Feeling Like A Fraud? Understanding The Imposter Syndrome.
“I feel like a fake”. “I must not fail”. “I just got lucky”. “I hope nobody ever finds out who I really am”. If this is some of your inner dialogue, you may be experiencing the phenomenon, “The Imposter Syndrome”. Don’t worry you are not alone. Studies show that an estimated 70% of people experience these impostor feelings at some point in their lives.
In this episode I have a conversation with a returning guest, a colleague and good friend, Angela Porter LMFT, CMT. and we explore the concept of Imposter Syndrome as we discuss the need to accept ourselves our humanness and the deep work of embracing our unique selves.
Angela Porter LMFT, CMT, is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, an addiction specialist, somatic psychotherapist, activist and International Breema bodywork instructor. I trained in Breema at the Breema Center in Oakland, Gestalt, Body-Centered, and Somatic Therapy at Esalen Institute, EMDR with Philip Mansfield at JFK University, Psychodynamic and Counseling Psychology at Berkeley’s Wright Institute, and group therapy at both Esalen Institute and at the New Bridge Foundation.
